THE LAST REVELATION
The Broken World
"These are the Revelations, things which must shortly come to pass--blessed are they that read these things which are written herein, for the time is near." --Revelations, 1:1-3
It is the final year of the twentieth century. The world is in a quiet state of chaos that threatens to overtake civilization. People are either apathetic or enraged. Inside itself society and the world are crying out, hoping for something more, something better. They're about to find it. In Los Angeles, one man begins a movement that miraculously gains a small but devoted following. He is dismissed as a faux cult leader and forgotten. All the better for him, since he keeps a secret that could change the world.
"A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the lord."
--Isaiah, 66:6
He is Jesse Christensen, a stigmatic, bearer of the wounds of Christ. With the assistance of his closest friends, Eddie and Shane, Jesse becomes a healer and savior to the City of Angels' lost souls. But it is not until he rescues a desperate young woman named Marianne Montreuil that he realizes his own soul is missing something, something he finds in her. But why?
"I saw a dream which made me afraid, the visions of my head troubled me."
--Daniel, 4:5
Without warning, masses of people begin arriving to assist Jesse in his mission of salvation. Who are they and what is their purpose? Jesse's begun to have visions--powerful and prophetic visions of apocalyptic proportions, visions of mankind's total devastation. What do they mean? And who is the strange but beautiful woman Kris who is seducing Shane?
"There were voices, thunderings, lightenings, and an earthquake."
--Revelations, 8:5
More questions arise when, on the eve of the new millennium, the most cataclysmic earthquake in history lays waste to the west coast. In Los Angeles Jesse's congregation is the seeming majority of survivors, and most others who made it through the quake flock to him to ensure their continued survival in the harsh environment of what comes to be called the Broken World.
"In that day there shall be a root of Jesse."
--Isaiah, 11:10
Marianne's presance only serves to complicate matters for Jesse. He finds himself torn between his duty to those who follow him and his feelings for her. Questions arise as to Jesse's purpose and that of his companions. What is their true purpose? Where have Shane and his new lover vanished to? Who holds the power in the Broken World? Good or evil? Or something else altogether? Is Jesse a false prophet or a modern-day John the Baptist, preparing the way of the lord?
"Remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many." --Ecclesiastes, 11:8
A pending apocalypse. Survival against the odds. Love and loss. Good versus evil. And above all--faith. In God. In love. And in ourselves.Step into the Broken World, and find out if this is the end of the world...or the beginning.
The Road to Calvary
"Abiding in softness is called strength."
--Tao Te Ching
In the years following the events of Broken World, the society built by Jesse and the survivors would flourish and thrive. But the core group that created the Broken World would continue to struggle with the secrets revealed to them during the cataclysm and the saga that was still foretold to play out.
"Satan said...I sharpened the spear for his suffering...I prepared the cross to crucify him..."
--Nicodemus 15:8-10 (The Acts of Pontius Pilate)
Somewhere out there, hiding in the populace and seething with an all consuming rage and need for vengeance, Kris, her true identity finally unveiled, begins to lay the framework for an apocalypse beyond imagining. Her targets are the Broken World and the survivors of the first devastation. But she is not alone. The twenty-five years she spent in hiding reunited her with old allies of another war and they too still feel the sting of defeat and the desire for revenge.
"Man begets man, a god brings forth a god."
--Gospel of Phillip

Sarah, through a tragedy that cuts at the heart of her, is forced to begin a spiritual quest that takes her from the deserts of California to hidden halls of secret government compounds. She is guided by a mysterious figure who has motives that may not be entirely altruistic and an old fashioned revival leader who claims to be preparing the way of the Lord.
"The Dove fluttered over the Messiah, because He was her head."
--Odes of Solomon, 24:1
As a horrible contagion begins to sweep over the Broken World, the survivors are faced with an onslaught of Kris's avenging warriors and Sarah has to summon up all her courage and her powers and forge an army of her own. Fulfilling prophecies of old and facing down the battle of Armageddon, she will lead the Broken World into a final confrontation against evil, this time not only for the survival of their own lives but for whole of humanity.
